a penny for your thoughts

if pennies fell from trees,
like raindrops,
would there be too many
thoughts for you?

if countless tears from clouds
were true thoughts,
would there be too many
raindrops yet?

if thoughts I gave to you
were tear shaped,
would there be too many
pence for you?

if myriads of thoughts
do not bring
sadness or tears, as they
sometimes do,

then are they to be more
treasured than
the pennies that bring
those raindrops?

do tears from clouds merit
all the same
rev'rence as the rays of
shining thoughts?

is not every raindrop
as needed
as every ray of sun,
nourishing

the life that is begot
from these pence,
shared each day, from one to
another?
